Alissa Puntel
LCSW, CBT-I, Insomnia Specialist
Specialities: Insomnia, Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD, Family issues
Approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Life Transitions
Alissa Puntel, LCSW, brings over a decade of experience in healthcare to her work as a therapist. She specializes in chronic insomnia, grief, loss, and trauma, and has walked alongside adults across all life stages — supporting them through anxiety, depression, self-esteem struggles, interpersonal challenges, and perinatal mood disorders.
Alissa believes therapy works best when it's tailored to the person in front of her. She takes an integrative approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT-I, and client-centered techniques to help clients build resilience, regain a sense of daily functioning, and move toward real personal growth. She is also EMDR-trained, IFS-informed, and holds a Certified First Responder Counselor certification — bringing depth and breadth to how she meets each client's needs.
As a mother and military spouse herself, Alissa carries a deep, personal understanding of maternal mental health and the unique pressures faced by military members and first responders. This isn't just clinical territory for her — it's lived experience she brings into the room.
She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and her Master's in Social Work from the University of Alabama.
Alissa's style is warm, honest, and laid-back. She creates a compassionate, judgment-free space where clients feel safe enough to be fully themselves — and supported enough to strengthen relationships, build self-esteem, and find greater fulfillment in life.
